A Punch and Judy A to Z
This book is a do-it-yourselfer's dream. If any one has ever given serious thought to starting their own Punch and Judy show, this is the most thorough compendium on the subject they could dream of. From the carving of the puppets, to the construction of the theater , even to the making of a "swazzle" (the device that produces the characteristic high-pitched squeak of Mr. Punch), this book is an absolute instructional must-have. There is also a traditional play included with all of the characters' lines, thereby giving the serious puppeteer everything and more they might require in order to produce this fast-disappearing historical art form in its entirety. The drawings are clear and well-reproduced with fully comprehensive captions. Highly recommended - simply the best.
