This gift set is an EXCELLENT way to be introduced to D&D or to the fifth edition game if you've played other editions. These books are BEAUTIFUL. A++
I have played D&D for thirty one years, that includes all editions first to fifth, with third edition being my favorite. But since I've been playing fifth edition it just feels like a HUGE expansion for third edition. The game flow and easy rule changes makes fifth edition perfect for novices and veterans alike. And this gift set is an excellent way to be introduced to fifth edition or role playing in general. The price for suggested retail is really good at 169.95 but EBAYs 98.77 can't be beat. I don't really have anything bad to say about this gift set because I LOVE it and would readily recommend it to anyone. So if you're curious about D&D pick this gift set up and get to ROLLING!!!!!!! HAPPY ADVENTURING!!!!!!!

Excellent starting point for the veterans and beginners!
No self respecting DM/GM would carry on with a game without having the rules and stats available. I haven't played in a long time, and this was a great deal to get!

D&D core rulebook gift set.
Came in on time with out any damage to the books or box great buy cant wait to start reading and playing some D&D.

Great course correction.
I left D&D when they launched 4e and kept going 3.5 with pathfinder. Finally now getting into 5e and loving this set. It has everything I need to get current and playing again!

Give 6 some time.
I've been on 3.5 faithfully and totally skipped 4th edition. Was hesitant with 5th ed. as I wanted to give it some time and watch other players first. Worth the wait. 5th ed. is as hoped for.

Better than 4e!
5e is way better than 4e and mostly better than 3e. It of course pales in comparison to 2e but it is a good starting point for new adventurers. Whom will invariably find their way to the perfect system that is 2e.
