Helped start True Crime interest; but somewhat dated and plodding.
This was a bit of nostalgia for me. Saw it as a teen on TV. It is the kind of film that indoctrinated me into the true crime interest so many have today. Having not seen it in decades, (SPOILER ALERT) I was struck by it's plodding investigation without a payoff in the sense that we never see the crimes really, not when they happen and not when the star witness recalls the crimes. We see a couple of flashes for seconds. I am guessing that only 7 years or so after the crime, it was still somewhat raw and maybe the TV sensors would not let the violence be shown on the tube. Still, it has some creepy moments for sure and I think the actors and director did a fine job. When I first saw it as teen, I was like: "Wow!" I think people who have never seen it before might now say it was a bit boring, especially at a long running time because it was a two part TV movie/miniseries originally. Still, I am happy with the film overall.

Batshit Crazy World!
Looking at all of the violence committed today by individuals, and all of the spot mob planning over the internet, it easy to see why people should be aware of what can happen when the truly inept meet up with the truly evil in mass. We see individual crime every day, and a few joined together have shocked us. However there has been nothing like the Manson family again, thank God.

A great movie to get the facts.
I’ve looked for this movie for a long time. I never thought I would find a new copy at such a great value. If your reading this! Your making a big mistake not shopping on e-bay. It’s a great movie!!!!

Recapture the fear of Los Angeles 1969. Helter Skelter is coming down fast.
The original made for tv Helter Skelter was and is the best of any and all Manson related docu-dramas or biographies. The actors did an amazing job portraying the key figures of the Tate/Labianca murders/trials. Steve Railsback as Manson is dead on capturing Charlie's intensity and mistrust of the "man".

An historical tragedy
This film, as well as the other HELTER SKELTER, are excellent is telling those horrible events which happened fifty years ago. The court scene is the main focus.

Close to the book
Tis dvd is very close to the book from which it was made. I really wouldn't call it entertaining. When Tate, et all, and the LaBianco's were murdered for no logical reason, it isn't "entertaining" . It is , however, a good movie that follows the book. It could have been better, but that can be said about most any movie made from a book. My only real complete would be that it could have been longer to fully fill out the characters. Worth the cost.

this guy plays the best charles manson ever, he looks so much like him, i love movies about real ppl and real events, this one doesn't disappoint

ROT IN HELL, CHARLES MANSON!!!!!
Nothing needs to be said about this movie about Charles Manson and his sick, twisted hippie freak bastards that committed these (and maybe much more) murders. Definitely worth the price. Good deal.

Worth watching again
I watched this production after reading the book Back when they first came out. Being a child of the 60’s I wanted to see this story again and found it well worth my time and money👍🏻

Definitely worth a watch
firstly, this video takes you right back to the 70's (and I loved the 70's). It was a very good reinactment of the events from the murders involved through the investigation and trial. I found it very informative on the whole Manson case.
