hard to beat for the pricepoint, in underwater cameras.
you either have to spend 2x-4x as much, or you settle for a very limited, average quality and ability, underwater camera.
this is NOT for deep diving in the ocean or lakes. it IS great for snorkeling, the pool, on the lake, boat, shallow diving, etc, and you just cant "break the bank" for an underwater camera.
i had an older model of this, XP80 or 100, cant remember, lost it a few years ago.
there ARE superior underwater cameras, to be sure, but, the cost is dear, and unless you truly NEED a camera for 50' or more dives ? those cameras quality of photo and abilities for general underwater, beach, and pool photos, dont justify the price.
a genuine small zoom, NOT digital, which ONLY ENLARGES THE PIXELS ! ! ! you dont have a true zoom when they say " 10x digital zoom".. i wont BUY a "digital zoom only camera" of any kind. they suk at quality photos and always lag in abilities.
i wanted a good compromise, for MY needs.. Pool,, light snorkeling/shallow ocean diving.
this camera fits that bill to a Tee... its about perfect.
there IS a newer model, the XP140.. feel free to buy brand new, get the warranty, etc.
I was trying to save even more money, AND get a good camera, i did both. I bought a used camera with little wear and tear.
so if you need more than the cheap $60-90 "underwater" cameras from China, but dont have the budget or NEED for a $500 Olympus.. the Fuji FinePix XP lineup, is pretty much "ready made" for casual underwater photography, action photos in the pool, beach, or SNOW...
easily a top recommended buy for its price point.
