Easy & Practical
Roku 2 is a very nice product. It is small and very easy to use. I bought the model with a headphone adapter built into the remote- which I find very useful. The remote works on the device even when you're not in the room (and so do the headphones) It comes with various channels, some free and some not. While I found that most of the included channels are less than impressive- it is a great device for those who subscribe to services like Netflix, Hulu, Stars, etc. The product does not come with an "off" feature- that is to say the only way you can power it down is to unplug it. That being the case, it automatically refreshes its pages every so often. The remote controls are very easy to use and the typeface is nice and big. The title screen features a page just for you and your channels. I have it plugged in via AV cable- but it offers an option for HDMI. Also, a major selling point for me was the fact that it offers (for certain services) audio and subtitle options. Love Roku!
Got this for my daughter for Christmas to watch Netflix. She loves it! The Roku interface is easy to use, the unit responds quickly when we push a button on the remote. (Our previous streaming box was slow and we were never sure it had received the signal). We have not tried the headphone jack in the remote but think it is a cool feature. I only rated four stars because we had one issue with the unit appearing to freeze and go into a reset mode. It rebooted and then worked normally. Fancy Roku :)
I bought this refurbished and it was a great price. I love all the additional features on the remote. I also love that you can use earphones for the Roku channels and not bother anyone else in the room with the sound. The only flaw I have found is that occasionally there is a choppiness (sounds like a cell phone call that has minimum cell tower coverage) with the sound in the earphones. Almost Perfect
This is a great little streaming box. The only caution I have for you is that it does not have a way to configure it to stop streaming after a certain amount of time. That is not a problem with some streaming services because they will stop the stream and ask if you are still watching every so often. If you are using something like slingtv, they just keep streaming. So if you forget to stop the stream on the Roku and just turn the TV off, it can stream non stop and use up the data allowance on your internet plan (if you have a limit). Magic In A Little Black Box
I own 2 roku 3 and have enjoyed using them. So when I decided to get another roku for my basement I thought I would try a roku 2. I bought it brand new and have been very happy with it. Setup was easy as I did the setup from my Samsung note 4. The performance has been great the only thing missing is the voice command other than that it's a great little machine and allot cheaper than a roku 3. Save money from Roku 3 or 4...Buy the Roku 2.
This is by far the best choice available for streaming video content to your TV through a variety of sources. I have two of them and neither of them has ever had a software issue or even a small glitch in streaming. They stream much better than gaming systems or "built in" streamers on Blu-Ray players. With the Roku 3 being an extra $50...all you really get (in addition to the R2) is voice-search. That might be a big draw for some but it just seems kinda lazy if you can't even use buttons on the remote to find what you want. Does what it's supposed to do.
The device was easy to set up despite the fact that it came without a manual (not unreasonable since it was a used item), but it didn't work fro me because it doesn't have the sites that I stream movies from like Netflix etc. For someone who uses the sites it carries it would be a great buy for the price.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

VERY PLEASED with the Roku 2
This is our first experience with a Roku...we have an older tv setup, so we chose to buy the Roku 2 with the composite (rca red/white/yellow) connectors available. Setup was simple, and we were up and playing with it within an hour, I would say. The amount of content available is really staggering. We signed up for the free trial of Hulu, as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime...also on the trial period of Sling TV. Just making sure everything is going to continue working like it has, and feel confident that we will be 'cutting the cord' with cable (actually DirecTV for us), which will save us over half of what we are currently spending per month. I just wish I had listened to my son, and done this long ago when he first suggested it! Channel switching
The feature to remember the last channel viewed is nice, but only for SlingTV. Would it be possible to possibly store the last five (5) channels viewed, regardless of the service you were watching. If they can create an USB storage device that holds 128GB of storage space in a small footprint, then would it be possible to store the steps involved in going to the previous channels onto an USB styled storage chip to make the viewing experience more seamless. Compact with an abundance of features
I was surprised at how small the Roku is... It has great connectivity selections and the wireless connection to my modem works great...
