Expensive but worth it for a cool nights sleep
Looked for a fan that was quiet enough for my sensitive hearing to sleep through on hot nights. This has 8 power settings and from 2 upwards, it is very noisy but on the lowest, although not whisper quiet, it just generates a low hum while still throwing out a cooling waft of air, so at night, before I try to sleep. I have it on no 3 setting to cool the room right down then reduce to 1 for sleep and so far I'm happy. Even though it is not an air conditioning cooler fan, it does throw out cool air. It's expensive but I'm happy I bought it.

Good fan. Lacks power though
I like this fan overall. The main selling point is they it’s gorgeous to look at and has a really interesting design. And it’s quite quiet, which is great. But it’s not as powerful as some cheaper fans and I don’t really think it’s great value if you just want to keep cool. It does the job, but at 19 times the price of a basic fan. So that’s the issue. It all just depends on whether you are willing to pay an extra £100 just for the gorgeous design. For me,, it is just about worth it, but only just. I can fully understand that other people might not think so. Just be honest with yourself before you buy it and only get it if you are happy paying a big premium for the aesthetic appeal.

Good looking, effective but expensive for a fan
We've had a redesign of our bedroom done and lost our ceiling mounted fan in the process so needed something effective and also aesthetically pleasing. This seemed to have real 'marmite' reviews, either loved or hated, the main concern seeming to be that it is just a fan at the end of the day and an expensive one at that. We went for this as a refurb which reduced the price, and this combined with a Nectar offer reduced the price further to around £100 off new so this swayed me. Having received it I must say I am very happy, it's a good looking piece of equipment and it does the job well. It has 10 selectable speeds, stationary or oscillating, and I find it reasonably quiet. It does look good compared to a conventional fan, and takes up less space in my view. With everything controlled via the remote it's ideal during a warm night when I can just turn it on from our bed. So overall for me I'm happy with my purchase, but yes it is just a fan and an expensive one at the end of the day if you just seek the functionality over looks.

No quieter than a normal fan, but lower power
For a given airflow the Dyson seems louder than a normal fan, but it has more settings than a normal fan, draws less power for the same airflow and at its highest setting blows harder than a normal fan. I like the look of it, but that's a matter of taste. it's impossible to get stuff tangled in it, which is good.

Refurbished from dyson, it came in original box and looked brand new,delivered within 24hours of ordering, it isn't silent but low noise, obviously the higher the speed the wind noise gets louder, I have no trouble sleeping in this heatwave, I have it set on 3 or 4 and I'm a light sleeper, it's expensive for a fan but getting to sleep at night has helped me justify the price

Not quiet, expensive but effective
I expected it to be quiet but it’s no different to a normal tower fan. The breeze given is good at the higher settings. Like the fact things can’t get tangled in it as no blades. Expensive but effective fan.

Stopped working!
Was so excited about getting this after reading reviews and the weather starting to warm. Unfortunately after using for just a few days, it kept turning itself off. I had to unplug and start again. Now it has just stopped working altogether. No power, changed fuse, tried new plug etc as advised by Dyson but it’s not working at all. So so devastated and disappointed. Trying to return the item. Certainly not the amazing fan I expected!

Good
Bought secondhand but in good condition. It’s very true that “you get what you paid for” After buying different fan’s that just blow the air around, I opted for a secondhand one from Dyson. It does exactly what it says it will! They are VERY expensive to buy new but they are worth it, shame they’re not cheaper so we can all afford a new one! Very quiet up to level 5, still quiet- ish 5-8, bit noisy on 9 & 10 but you could sleep if your tired enough. Timer feature fab, goes up in 15 mins till 1 hour then every hour up till 8 hrs. Cools my bedroom well but looking for a smaller one for bedroom so this one can go in lounge.

Great product for children
Whilst this fan is possibly the most expensive on the market,it more than makes up for cost in peace of mind. I'm able to leave the fan in my children's room safe in the knowledge their fingers can't get into any moving parts. Additionally,buying from the outlet store results in a brand new fan with a full two year warranty.

Really powerful but not very quiet at all. Cheap controller receiver
I am impressed with how powerful it is and how it really churns the air in my room and keeps me cool. It is lightweight and easy to use. fairly well designed and looks nice. Although and it’s quite a big although - it is rather loud. Just as loud and even louder on the high settings than a normal fan. I purchased it for a night time fan and I can only just sleep with it on. The controller is a pain. It only works if you can point it direct and one spot on the base. Not easy when it’s at the bottom of my bed and makes the controller pointless when I have to get up. Based on this I feel it’s not good value for money and you just pay for the fancy design. If I was to purchase another I’d prefer to spend the money on a good conventional fan.
