Still worth watching to experience the story telling narrative ability of the earlier days of Hollywood . Good picture quality of the disc and respectable acting by all concerned . Having real people in the mass scenes is refreshing compared to all the computerized images of today .
I enjoyed watching the maturation process of the main character as he learns by experience about reality's truths. He undergoes radical changes from birth to a grown young man through several varied 'adventures'. The captivating story line kept my interest throughout the movie. And the ending was pleasantly unexpected.
For its time it is a very interesting melodrama. It seems to be the earliest film that I have seen that dealt with the slave trade. It is nice to be able to add this film to my collection. It was very reasonably priced.
