Tamron 18-400
Had to try out this lens, after all, I have every other lens made by just about any other manufacturer, including Tamron but I will not buy a Sigma lens any more. I'm very careful with my equipment and I've had 2 Sigma lenses brand new that just simply broke while under normal use. Of course they were out of warrantee but then that's why it seems planned by Sigma...ya know? Planned obsolescence? But I digress... Back to the Tamron 18-400. I waited a little while to give you a review to get a little usage under my belt. I've had for about 2-3 months now and haven't used it excessively but enough to pas judgement on it, to a point. The first thing I look for is sharpness. I'll try to post full images with this review if they'll let me, if not, I will tell you. I went shooting with my friend and plopped this lens on a Nikon D500. That's the first nice thing about it...the D500 automatically adds 200 mm to the focal length because of the crop factor of 1.5. Now it's a 600mm lens that's nothing to sneeze about. Clear, clear, clear. Sharp, maybe even tack. We don't have any standard that I know about in the industry so in this case it's a 'by the pants' judgement of its sharpness. I would say the final subject would easily be accepted as a professional lens the closer you are to your subject. The further away you get, you start losing the edges. But in any case a 100% crop should always come out acceptable! Next is Vibration Compensation. That's Tamron's expression for camera shake control. I have always been happy with Tamron's VC. It might even be better than some of the lenses Nikon puts out with their VR. The best VC's I've seen seem to be the ones where you might have to pause momentarily to see everything fall into a frozen sate...then you snap the picture...although it's still supposed to work w/o waiting. Whatever, Tamron's VC is great on this lens. The rest is up to the pixel peepers. I didn't look at the edges of these shots to see if there is any focus falloff. You can do that. Anything else? I don't know, it has that good Tamron well-built feel to it and if you buy one, it should be around for a while. I'm one who is in favor of Tamron's lenses and feel safe using them as replacements for many Nikon lenses. Not all but a lot. I definitely recommend this piece. I'm pretty sure you'll love it....and you know the best thing about it? You won't need to carry any other lens with you...no matter where you go. Now that's a statement.

Good Travel Lens
As for the 3 question they have asked a simple Yes or No does not suffice. 1. Is it durable, need more time, but it feels solid. 2. Is Image Sharp? I shot with a D5100 and mostly D500. It is great up to about 350 for Wildlife, Landscape is good up to the 400. If you need a single lens to take on a trip, this is the one. 3. Is it a good value? Eh it was what a lens of this type should cost. I like the lens and would recommend it to anyone.

Tamron 18-400mm a nice all in one wideangle/telephoto lens.
I'm using the lens with a Nikon D5500 camera.The lens is quite long and heavy. The focusing is quick and the images look sharp. Lens creep occurs when the camera is pointed down. The on camera flash causes a shadow to be cast in the photo so an auxiliary flash is a must.

this is my first Tamron lens and I’m very very pleased with it very sharp and extended length so the corners of the pictures can be a little soft but I can do with that that’s a great lens for the price, I actually do professional work with it also

Best all around lens
Greatest range for a crop frame camera. Not too heavy and very clear at all focal ranges. It stays on the camera for most of my shots. Glad I finally bought it!

4 Stars for less than $500 is great
It's a great lens for the money but don't expect any quality in the boque at 300+. It's pretty bad. The subject with focus is sharp but the boque is very disappointing. For it's purpose, it's a great all-in-one lens but keep in mind that is what you're getting...an average all-in-one. The zoom ring is oddly sticky in the middle zoom and is not smooth at all. It feels really poorly made. It get 4 stars from me because it does what it says it does and gives good 4 star results.

So far so great.
Beginner level, I thought it'd be a great overall lens for capturing a wide variety of shots. And I have been pleasantly surprised. Amazing clarity even when not using a tripod thanks to stabilization. Image quality has been very good for my level of discernment. I like the versatility and price point.

superb all around lens
Fantastic lens for the money. Did own a Tamron 16-300 and purchased the 18-400. It was a little stiff at first but then worked its way out of it. Very responsive and takes fantastic images. Have used in in a lot of different applications so far and it has exceeded my expectations. This lens will rarely be off my camera. Used it for some images at a Track Meet and then out Turkey hunting and everything was fantastic. You would not be disappointed if you were to add this lens to your arsenal.

Great Lens for the Money! Light and handy with great range.
The lens performs well and is light and easy to carry, considering it's a long lens. It's only flaw is the pictures are sometimes a little dark and I have to up the exposure.
