Quick and great graphics. But no backwards compatibility
Got this for my son (who has autism). He has had every PS so far. He wanted this because he wanted FIFA18. Runs well. But that goes without saying. It's a better processor and loads of memory. It has internet connectivity for gamers, but my son never goes near that stuff. Would I recommend it? ONLY if you don't want any of your old games anymore. . Out of the box it was different... games need to be installed. oohh.. exciting! No, Not really. Once installed you think you can put the dfisk back in its case. No. it has to be inserted before you can play the installed game. Presumably that is nothing to do with the architecture of the game but more to do with making sure people don't give game disks away once installed. . The worst issue is the lack of backwards compatibility. I knew this before buying but my son was oibsessed with wanting FIFA18. (He has had every FIFA so far). He likes to use old FIFA versions from time to time.... and that is a problem. He has been able to play all of his PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on the PS3 but none will work on the PS4. He has lots of games. All now effectively scrap. The cost of them in PS4 format is ENORMOUS, and not all are available on PS4. He wants to know why he can't play them. He wanted me to bin his PS3 but now wants me to keep it and wire it up. Sony really need a good kicking. Their competitors who make the X Box at least partly listened to their customers. The Sony boss said he didn't think anyone would want to play old games because the new PS4 is so whiz. Cretin. Finally, setup, and so, on seems slower than the PS3 used to be and it seems to have more things that can go wrong. I've already been called more times to 'fix' the PS4 than I was called in all of the years of owning a PS2 and PS3. The 'fixes'; were usually UI problems, but once or twice I've need to reset. Maybe this was bad luck. Maybe he will get used to the new UI. But we'll see. Make space and extra plug sockets for your old PS 3 if you value your old games. PS4 under Xbox X
As an Xbox veteran, I was missing a lots of excellent PS4 exclusives games like Horizon zero down, Uncharted 4 thief’s end and Persona 5 to name but a few. So I perchesed a PS4 from eBay at a significant discount and I couldn’t be happier. Great value at a price that's right
Bought as a Christmas gift for my son, so haven't had chance to judge graphics yet, but recon item from Argos with no scratches or signs of any kind that it was ex display, 1TB system for less than £240, that's a saving of £130 in my book as all the others I looked at were just less than £370.
