Mouton's Charge at the Battle of Mansfield is an excellent writing that gives some of the lesser know facts of this very desperate assault. After retreating hundreds of miles before a much greater Union Army Confederate General Richard Taylor gives General Mouton's Louisiana Infantry the opportunity to strike the blow that would not only stop the advance but turn it into a major retreat.
