A very instructive and well researched book.
A well researched and surprisingly detailed book about the UK,s latest submarines. A lot of research has been done, it s quite concerning where the lack of submarine designers is discussed. The modern construction methods are impressive, bit do lead to the question as to why the build takes 10 years to complete ? Given the advantages of indoor working, also using modular construction which is far easier than " in situ " which was the method years ago. Well written and illustrated for the general reader.
Well illustrated and written, Gates tells the story of the troubled design and procurement of arguably the world's most advanced class of nuclear submarine. A cautionary tale for those with responsibility today for planning Astute's successor. The general reader with no previous knowledge of the design, building and operation of nuclear submarines will gain some useful insights on the topic as well as a reasonably detailed account of the history of the Astute class design evolution from the mid 1980s to the 2000s including how the UK defence industry and MoD struggled to maintain control over one of the most complex engineering projects in UK history.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Very good value for money with original photos

A detailed and fascinating book on submarines in general and the Astute class submarines in particular.
This book's content is fascinating.
