$200 (in 2021) Upgrade for old computers
Replaced a 480GB rotating hard-disk drive (HDD) with this. The result is that my 2013-vintage single-core laptop runs much faster, and I do not have to deal with drive-capacity problems for now. Two goals: more space and less of a delay when opening files, and both of them are met.
I used Clonezilla to transfer disk images. The old HDD surprisingly had several failed sectors, so I had to do several very complex steps manually. Not something for amateurs, but the reward was worth it. I just mention this because it was unexpected.
Also, there have been changes to the interface standards. This is the SATA-3 for the previous generation.
As far as the product quality: It is solid-state memory from Crucial. Not really much I can add to this. (This was the only brand that I considered.)
I recommend this kind of upgrade and particular vendor, because I believe that $200 got me a lot of computer. Money well spent!
