Great for the advanced modeller (not me!)
I was really keen to build a British Sherman from the North Africa campaign and thus is the only kit that I could find so was quite excited for the build. Overall I think this is an excellent kit. Great moulding and fit with minimal flashing to clean up etc but there were some issues for an inexperienced scale modeller like me. I had three key issues: 1. The instructions left a lot to be desired. They didn't show both sides of the model and you really had to experiment to figure out the order in which parts go on and where they attach. Compared to Tamiya instructions they were really poor. 2. There was a lot of photo etched parts for track guards and skirts and straps for the tools etc. If you've never worked with photo etch before it's quite tricky and not very forgiving with mistakes. Given the track guards are a key differentiator on British Sherman's I had to deal with photo etch! Again, other kits have plastic moulds for this detail which is easier to work with. If you're an advanced modeller then you'd probably enjoy this but not me! 3. The tracks were a bugger to put together. The instructions said 23 links for one section but after putting them together there was no way 23 links would cover the space between the wheels. Luckily there are extra links in the kit. Again more modern kits have moulded tracks with realistic sag effect etc so look great and are much easier to work with than individual track links. Outside of this though the kit was excellent. Great selection of decals/transfers for a wide variety of unit markings with 6 options and varying paint schemes. Great value add this. Overall a great kit but moreso for an advanced modeller.
