A Very Brief Guide to Filling Your Home with Warmth and Comfort
This is an interesting little book about the Danish practice of "hygge", a term meant to convey the sharing of friendship and family in a warm and cozy home environment. Unfortunately, the author spends as much time discussing charts and trends of Danes vs. the rest of the world in terms of happiness as he does telling us how to achieve this joy in our own lives. For example, coffee and cake/pastry is often listed as a vital part of hygge, yet the book only gives 6 recipes...and although they do seem very tasty, none are suitable for coffee hour. There are also ideas given here that may be out of reach for many readers. Building a bonfire to gather around on a crisp autumn evening is indeed a delight, but not practical for urban readers. Likewise, going away for the weekend to a rustic cabin in the woods or to enjoy a backwater fishing trip may be too pricey for many budgets. And spending an entire (thankfully short) chapter on a tour of Copenhagen is not going to help readers fill their homes with warmth and may well be beyond the reach of those with modest means. On a positive note, there are some useful ideas here and the book does make a nice "starter guide" to hygge and how to achieve it. The folksy illustrations are charming and help to make this a pleasant evening's read. There are other books that will provide much more information: more recipes, more crafts, more lifestyle tips and so on, but for readers is only interested in the basics, this is the book for them .Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Almost perfect!
The books are exactly as they show and are sweet little hardcover books perfect for a coffee table. The books were shipped in just a plastic bag and the bottom of the spines arrived a bit bashed in, I assume from transit. These books would be better protected if shipped in a box. Not a huge deal, but when giving them as gifts it's disappointing when they dont look brand new.

Perfect Pandemic Winter Read
I love this book. It has just the right about of insight, culture, cozy and humor. It inclludes good science with suggestions for everyday practices to lift one's mood during the long pandemic lockdown. Find a comfortable place to next with a cuppa' and enjoy a very good read!
