The best
Ok I will make it easy for everyone. I was about to buy an new expensive knife but I thought I might give this sharpening stone a chance when other sharpening tools has failed. They actually they made my knife even worse. My knife is a Japanese with high quality. Nevertheless the result was outstanding and the knife like a new and I regret I never used a such stone before. Best of luck cutting and cooking.

Awesome Sharpening Stone!
This is my first whetstone so my experience is lacking with them. All I know is when I sharpen things on this stone, I get basically what appears to be a mirror finish. The edge of my chisels and planes are VERY sharp now. Granted, they are still junk chisels. But for that first few times using them, they are pretty darn sharp during that time. I now find myself looking for things to sharpen around the house :) I will next look at going higher than 6000 to see what the hubbub is all about. If you are on the fence (woodworking pun intended) do yourself the honor and get one of these and use it according to the instructions. Mine came all in tact and had wasn't cracked or anything.

Scary sharp
I will say that you can't beat the price for such a great stone. I have been honing by hand for the past 2 years. I have sharpened over a dozen knives and let me tell you they are scary sharp. This stone does a mighty fine job of getting a knife good and sharp. You won't be let down. It is a real deal and the shipping was so fast it made my head spin. Got to my house in one day. Crazy!

Worth the money
I have found this stone to do a very good job on my knives. I have several types of sharpeners, but if I really want a razor edge this is the "go to" sharpener. It takes a little longer but is the best edge.

Really sharp
Forget your hardware store grind stone. It will leave burrs and the knife will readily get dull. This Japanese stone features two grits" 1000 and 6000. You will get a mirror finish with the 6000 grit, but even the 1000 grit is much better than a diamond sharpener. I love using mine.

Good value, japanese quality
Comes flat out of the box and sharpens quickly. Will need to be flattened regularly with frequent use, wears quickly by design so check for flatness before starting a new blade. 6000 side leaves a razor sharp mirror finish on my chisels and plane irons. Non slip base is very handy.

better than dry or electric grinder
made Japan / good box holds stone tight when sharpening -- rubber feet / clear lite t plastic storage case / instructions Japanese only / check online for use / pocket or kitchen knife - note that blade thickness of knife changes picked sharpening angle if angle guide used / 1000/6000 grit best - at least for amateurs / be sure to soak in water 15 minutes+ OR if use oil, do not switch to water when sharpening - clogs the pores. / 5 stars when used with water & soaking stone.

Good stone for doing chisels
I bought this for doing my woodworking chisels. Was shaving my knuckle hairs off in no time. Dropped a star because mine came with one of the corners of the 1000# grit stone damaged. Not bad enough to return it, but bad enough to make me say dang it. The packaging of the stone is basically just a plastic sleeve box, and I'm assuming mine was damaged when it was dropped on a corner.

King 1000/6000
The king 1000/6000 is the fastest and cleanest stone I have ever used.I build acoustic guitars so a sharp plane is a must when working with expensive hardwoods and this stone does the job my planes run thru some of the thoughest wood out there with no problem bottom line is for the money you will never find a better sharpening stone.....

Worth the money
Do not waste your time on $18 or $20 stones. You will ruin your knives, and will not learn how to sharpen properly. This is a Besic, a.k.a. not that very expensive stone believe it or not, real good Japanese stones are about $90 apiece. However this is cheaper on Amazon I should've checked the price on Amazon
