Hoover Floormate Deluxe
A fine machine indeed. I have been using this unit for a few years now on my tile floors and it works great. My floors even have some pretty wide grout gaps but this unit still sucks all of the water up. There are two things that I think could be improved. #1 is the placement of the on/off switch, it is in a bad location but was probably cheaper to put it there. #2 are the small clips on the waste water tank, they are unnecessary and I removed them after the first time they got in the way when I was putting the tank back in. I have had my machine almost entirely taken apart and it is actually pretty easy to work on. It uses all of the same size screws throughout the machine. After a couple of years of use I had to replace the sucker hose assembly because it simply broke in half from all of the up and downs of the handle. I also replaced the detergent valve assembly because the seal on the bottom of the piston would pull off of its rib that holds it and the button wouldn't pull the piston high enough to let a good amount of detergent flow onto the floor. The parts are pretty cheap and all you really need is a Phillips screw driver to disassemble the entire unit. It's not a task for the feeble minded for sure, you need to pay attention to where stuff is when you take it apart. But overall, it's the best unit of its kind that I have used. Very Good Basic Model
This is my 4th Floor Mate. My prior one had a handle that folded which made it easier to store between uses, had larger head and 3 settings rather than 2. If you want a more deluxe model be sure to get that and not this model. The floor mate did a good job as have the others that I bought. The previous one stopped sucking up the dirty water after many years use. I very much like the new storage units for clean water, dirty water on the side. Both are larger than previous model. I would have like the folding handle feature, size of head not important- may take another 5 minutes to complete the job with smaller head. Would have given 5 starts if it had the folding handle. Overall FloorMates are great for cleaning expansive areas of hard surface like tile. Recommend getting one. Works well breaks down in a year.. But would only clean tile with this machine.Buy one every year .....should make stronger !!
Love machine while it works This is my 4 th one ..1800square house of tile in sandy Florida and three fur babies...best to sweep floor first if have time but will clean to a shine.Does not last more than a year..larger container would be nice but they hold a lot now.. Almost perfect, but very close. Works very well.
My experience with other Hoover products has been all positive and this one continues to impress. Very similar to a carpet cleaner in operation, it only lacks one important feature- a rinse cycle. Sure it sprays cleaning solution and scrubs the floor nicely and has incredible suction leaving the floor virtually dry when done, but I was always told to make sure not to leave any soap/cleaning solution behind as it will attract dirt, This unit only has a tank for cleaning solution and another for the dirty water, There is no clean water to rinse with so that is why I'm only giving this 4 stars. We will see if not having rinsed the soap from the floor will be an issue, The good news is its ability to almost completely dry my wood floor when done with an area. Leaving water on a wood floor is a no-no. But the dirty water it removed was clear evidence that it had cleaned my floors and removed every drop. I cleaned my linoleum, ceramic and wood floors with this the other day. It was easy to use once I figured out the trigger system. The directions were not very clear or detailed. great for tile floors
This is the best tile cleaner ever!!! better than steam mops as it brushes deep to clean, Amazing!!! Would definitely buy again. Just a note that you may have to go over the floor several times if the grout is really dirty. I bought special cleaner for the grout only and that really did the trick. The floors have been down for over 10 years but this heavy duty cleaning has brought them back to new condition. Really easy to use and empty. Cleans well and easy to use
This is my second one of these, so that shows I like it. However, there are a couple of things that are not so good. One is the on/off switch. Mine broke after only a few uses, and it even feels strange to use. So I took the extra warranty out this time. The other problem I have is that for years I haven't been able to get a good non-streak floor on my tile. Excellent cleaner but some design flaws.
While this model performs as well as the previous models of Floormate we have owned, there is one serious design flaw, namely that the nozzle assembly is very difficult to remove and frequent removals will cause the tabs holding it in place to quickly crack and break. The nozzle should have some mechanism to push the tabs down so the lip of the tabs disengages without requiring a tremendous amount of force. I have modified the nozzle with two small holes through which a 3/32 inch wire is inserted to release the tabs. The attached photos shows this device. Another reason for my 4 star rating was that the nozzle of this model is about 1 inch less wide than the previous models I have owned. Another improvement they could make is move the power switch to the handle instead of where it is. I hope this review gets read by Hoover's design team and these suggestions get incorporated into their next model.

Simply LOVE This Floor Cleaner!
Took a while longer to get here due to FedEx high volume, (not Hoover's issue) but well worth the wait! Followed all set up/use instructions but noticed slight water leak in cleaner liquid container. Easy fix by conditioning the rubber seal at the base of the container then reassemble. The Mrs just LOVES this machine! It's just so easy to use and works like a charm. She found that the 'Dry' setting works best if you move the unit slowly across the floor in either direction. Gets ALL the water off the floor! Easy to assemble/operate, and the long power cord lets her reach the whole kitchen and laundry room with ease. Outstanding Floor Cleaner
