A Great Primary or Secondary Heat Source.
They smell a little fishy, but they definitely do what they say at sea level. The odor for me wasn't an issue because I vacuum packed each 12 pack box for long term storage. Again, for me, I thought the odor was very mild compared to some of the reviews I read. But we're all different. If you're looking for a heat source or a back up heat source, especially one that's portable, this is it. They'll prepare a freeze dried meal or a cup of coffee in short order, easily.

Best on the market
The Esbit tablets are the best "pocket heater" stove fuel on the market today. This price is very competitive. The folding stove and these fuel tablets are my 'go to' unit in my emergency supplies. They work as advertised. What more could one ask for?

Very effective fire source!
Once you accept the fact that this stuff has a fishbait kind of smell to it is an absolutely superb product. It takes a very minimal amount of contact with ignition source before you have a solid long burning flame you can use to cook, warm yourself, build a bigger fire with or anything you might need a fire for.

Work great, much hotter than the homemade wax variety.
These do have a strong chemical smell when you open the package, but do not smoke or impart a smell to food cooked with them. I assume the smell is a chemical evaporating from the product in long term storage. That probably means they should be stored in a sealed container when not in use.

14 gram Esbit tabs are the standard.
14 gram Esbit brand heat tabs are the standard for campers who use Esbit Stoves. I first used them in the Army over 30 years ago. We used to use them to heat MREs in the days before flameless ration heaters. Also used them for making coffee and ramen.
