Customizable but doesn't feel better than cheap sticks to me
Sanwa or not....I have a cheapo madcatz SF4 stick (standard white one, not TE), which feels better to me than this thing does. The stick to the Atrox feels a little too tight and that's where the main issue lies.
For fighting games combos are a little tricky to pull off. The Sf4 stick is playfully loose and feels at home to me for easy half circles, double half circles, etc.
The one thing this stick has that I like, is increased weight and size, so it fits comfortably on your lap (relatively speaking) without being uneven because the platform was too small. The sf4 stick has that issue, the platform is smaller.
Things that could be improved - to me - are placing the stick another half inch away from the buttons so your hands aren't so close together, and the stick could be another half inch longer too. Lastly the extra stick top they give you feels gross. I'm a fan of that style but this one felt wrong. Ball top wins.
I can't speak on the modularity/customization. I didn't buy this to customize it, but for a quality stick with sanwa parts. That damned hatch squeeks after you close it and rest your wrists on it.
I must say I'm slightly disappointed. There is little to no difference between this and cheap madcatz parts, in my opinion. The feeling isn't different. Maybe they last longer without breaking, I don't know.
TL;DR Atrox stick is a little tight compared to a cheap madcatz sf4 stick I'm using (both new), and sanwa parts feel no different to me than the cheap stick. Weight and size of machine are nice. But all in all, too expensive if you don't plant to customize. It also squeeks because of the whole hatch compartment thing - you rest your wrists down and hear it squeeking all over. It's not magic, just a big platform.
