I would say it's not exactly the same as a SM58, the frequency response graph that comes with the mic suggests it's designed for more "top end" - more cutting than fully rounded as it were, some might call that "clarity". That doesn't make it a bad mic at all, it makes it a very prominent sounding mic, to cut though, a bit like having the presense knob up a tad on the mixer. It seems very directional, get off axis and the sound drops off very quickly, which is a good thing, helps to stave off feedback. Also the handing noise is very low, no rumbles, thuds, very little noise when hitting the mic stand, very good performance. It has a good weight too, feels sturdy, not cheap. It works best when close up to the lips, this type of mic gets used like that anyway, perfect for stage performance. I even like the box and clip that comes with it. This is a real bargain of a mic for stage use.

Sounds pretty good to me.
For the price, this mic sounds really good, I'm not a pro, but compared to the big name brand mic I had before, which broke, this sounds full, crisp and just as good.

Great Microphone
Excellent product for the price - solid build and really well made - sound quality compares very favourably with more expensive microphones - would highly recommend that you consider this product.

Value for money and good quality
Good entry level live mic, actually pretty incredible for the price. looked around a lot and this seems to be the best value for money mic out there, or at least one of them. so far it seems well made and very durable, comes with a half decent mic box also which is nice.

Behringer XM8500 - A lot of mic for the money
The mic arrives in a sturdy plastic carry case. It seems to work fine, although I haven't given it a proper and thorough testing as yet, but I don't foresee any major problems on the near horizon. I would say that it seems to be really good value for the money. My only negative comment would be with the microphone holder - I can't see any way that this microphone would squeeze into the tiny clip supplied in the case.........

Top sound
This was a great purchase, they say you get what you pay for but I believe I received a great microphone for a very reasonable price and this could have easily been dearer. The sound for recording is just right and it picks up sounds clearly without any distortions or other noises. I am about to set up a recording studio in my place and will be buying a few more of these in the future.

Excellent frequency response and clarity. Holds its own with microphones 5 or 6 times the price.
I have been using my XM8500 for 2 years in professional situations. It never lets me down. Superb clarity and response. Compares well against much more expensive & well known microphones.

Robust budget microphone for the studio.
I would recommend this microphone for home studio use. I feels robust and a good alternative to more expensive brands.

Sound great and come with a decent carry box
I bought two of these. They don't have the robust feel of the Shure equivalents but they sound as good and are 1/5th the price! The cases give great protection so I am happy to use them. No Roger Daltrey slinging around though!
