Worth seeing
For the most part this is an excellent film. The real problem is that they either didn't have a great camera or the cameraman wasn't real good- probably both. [But the opening scenic shots would indicate the opposite] Anyhow, all of the actors were fine, as was the director. I'd have picked different actors but that's a personal touch. As I said: "The actors did a fine job." There were times when the lighting was poor. But everything else about this film was great. In "The Lord of the Rings" movies, they said: "People had forgot what they should have remembered." This was true in: "Rawhead Rex" [another Irish film.] In: "From the Dark" We see this forgetfulness, again. This appears to be a vampire type creature. It bears resemblances to Max Schreck as "Nosferatu". Plot: Stories from the past were forgotten or thought to be foolish fairy tales. A man is digging and hits a piece of wood. He yanks the wood out of the ground, not realizing that its purpose is to paralyze a bound thing. The man notices a hole in the ground where the wood came from. Because daylight is waning he goes to get a flashlight. When he comes back he is attacked, as he's trying to figure out why the hole is larger. Then the film cuts to a couple driving through the country, when their car brakes down. This coincidence leads them to the man's property as the day descends into darkness. The rest of the story is their attempts at survival while this famished creature is trying to feed. This is a very nicely done film. Probably a different take on the vampire legends but it could be something different, but similar. If you like this type of story then this is a film that should be seen.
