SynopsisAlexander Kotov's trilogy, of which this is the second volume, marks a landmark in chess literature. For the first time, a leading player managed to tackle the important elements of chess mastery in a methodical way which all chessplayers could understand, spiced with insight and colourful observation. Furthermore, his ideas and approach are as relevant to players today as they were when the books were first published., This book follows on from Kotov's previous work Think Like a Grandmaster. It is a guide to chess-playing for the amateur player. The book covers positional judgement, planning, combinational vision and calculation and practical play - each with many examples.

  • THINK LIKE A GRANDMASTER is highly recommended and a 'MUST HAVE' for any player looking to increase their level of play !!!

The author, Alexander Kotov, was one of the very few who could get his thoughts for an instructive chess book that would work for beginning chess players right up to expert level in a way that was very easy to comprehend and prove to be an effective learning tool. This book, and the first in the series, THINK LIKE A GRANDMASTER has been heralded through out the chess world as standards and 'MUST HAVES' for chess teachers and players alike. The entire series is equivalent to being inside the mind of this Russian Grandmaster who was a very successful tournament player for many years. Players who have thoroughly read through his instructive advice in these two books have been able to increase their level of play and enjoyment of the game.
