Noisy Hard Drive, Not Suitable For Music Rigs
I bought this for my music rig, I do headphones (open back) listening, this drive has a lot of noise and is always going to sleep when there is no operation. It is slow, it takes about 2-3 seconds to read files when coming back from sleep. Read/write speed is good on USB 3.0 ports. I am thinking to stick to my 3 TB backup drive which does not require an external power supply and is fairly fast and silent in operation. The size is huge, and is not at all portable because of the external power supply. If you have a 12V battery, you can power is up and take it outside. Affordable, QUICK, and QUIET external drive
This drive is powered by a separate power cord, not USB and it is quiet at any speed and quite fast and adequate for any kind of video game or date storage. I keep a second one of those for use on the home network and it is nothing short of amazing for computer use as well! so far so good!
despite the price for the size someone might think is slow but is actually really fast. i was able to transfer 1.5TB of mostly compressed stuff in around 3 hours!! really good! doesn't make sound or at least sound that bothers you as I've been reading around but I using it primarily as a backup option so it will not be connected all day long. is a great deal so farBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Great product!
I purchased the Seagate Backup Plus to back up my system files because of all the ransomware that's been creeping back into the headlines lately. I was looking for a 3TB drive when I came across this 5TB external drive at a great price. The setup was easy, all I had to do was plug it in and my computer detected the drive immediately. I then went to the Windows 10 back up and restore settings and set up the drive to run a backup instantly and then I scheduled when I wanted the drive to backup my files in the future, i.e. daily, weekly, or monthly. The only issue which wasn't really an issue is when I had to reboot the computer automatically attempted to boot from the drive which doesn't have an OS. So, all I had to do was disconnect the drive, reboot, and once the computer has rebooted then reconnect the drive. Been using the Seagate 5TB External HD for about 1 month now. The unit was super easy to setup and to use. I am using it as my own personal Cloud device coupled with a Lima; so everything I have on my iPhone, iPad, Home PC and laptop are always updated automatically and available where ever I go. So Far So Good
Loaded up properly and quickly (within a day). And it still works after about a month. But my problems with Seagate Drives bought in the last three years is how long they last, not whether they arrive in working order. My last backup drive lasted 30 months, longer than the warranty, but not as long as the HD inside my computer. Just What I Needed...
Having once lost irreplaceable data, I know the price of failing to back up my computer system. This 5TB drive has an awesome 'byte to buck' ratio. I finally have enough space to spread out and organize all my files. When I'm finished, I'll be purchasing another one of these... to back all that up...
