Excellent all-round drill
I have a preference for Hitachi chordless drill stretching back to my first, back in the mid 1990s. I have always found them well balanced and easy to use. My latest, the DV18DGL is no exception. It has excellent power and the two speeds are well chosen for optimum work in soft materials or metals. The torque is more than adequate for the work I do, much of which is screw driving. Even with the largest screws, there is plenty of torque to drive screws hard into the wood. The torque limiter is well matched to what I require My only negative comments are that the brake is quite harsh and the user has to take care to ease the drill to a stop so as to not shock the chuck undone. I suspect that longer term, gear damage could be a result of this harshness, so care is recommended. Also, it would be good if the light could come on a little earlier in the trigger range. For that, I would still un-hesitatingly recommend this tool to DIY or professional users.
