FY6600-60 Function Generator
This device has many more features than anticipated. It has numerous built-in waveforms and even more space for user defined functions. Not recommended for VHF work
PROs This dual channel unit can use channel two to modulate channel one. Very nice for making AM and FM signals. CONs I bought this to make VHF amplifiers. This unit is completely unshielded. I retrofitted a sheet metal shield and now that is not a problem. The output is 20V p-p up to 20MHz but drops to 5V p-p beyond 20MHz. I use this generator with an amplifier to fix that problem. The waveform selection must step through more than 50 options. Many options are nice but you must step through all them to find the one desired. There is only forward stepping so it is tedious to find the desired selection. In the VHF range the sync output does not work correctly.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

...Phase/frequency noise at HF !!!
I just received my FY-6600 signal generator. It works correctly on audio, but as soon as i go into the 100's of kHz, i can see notable unwanted phase modulation on the scope (SSB demod using an Agilent 8935), althrough the modulation remains inaudible on SSB but as soon as i go into the HF spectrun (10-20 MHz), the phase modulation is so intense that it can clearly be heard on SSB. The µHz resolution is simply a farce. The genarator's precision may be good for some (mine had a +30 PPM error) but for a 14 digit unit (1 µHz resolution), it is unacceptable. I have bought this generator mainly for it's 14 digit resolution and it's 14 bit DAC but it fails miserabily. Do NOT be fooled by it's so-called µHz resolution (unless you generate in the milli-Hertz range), it fails miserabily, and at HF on SSB, it becomes totallt unusable.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
