Glass is not strong enough for preserving and fermenting
This year I've bought 16 of these bottles. The seller was brilliant. The product ... it turns out all I bought was the idea that comes with the name "Kilner". In practice, you have to be very careful with these bottles. For instance, you can't sterilise them using hot water. (It says so in the instructions.) I pushed my luck because I knew I shouldn't keep fermented liquids in a bottle with an contamination. Well, it exploded a few seconds after a drop of boiling water went inside. Another one has since exploded. My water kefir started fermenting too fast. I had vented the bottle recently. But, as I wrote to the company in China that makes Kilner, it would be a good idea if the stopper is not stronger than the glass - otherwise the stopper could have blown open rather than have a bottle full of liquid explode without warning in the kitchen.
