Minelab X-Terra 705
Having owned many metal detectors over the years I really like the 705! It's light! It's quality made! It's powerful yet stable/quiet and packs small for travel. I bought this detector specifically for gold jewelry hunting on land and now see the 705 is a great all round machine. With the right accessory coils you can hunt the beach for jewelry, hunt the city park for silver coins, then hunt the hills for gold nuggets... all using the same detector! I'm mainly a shallow water hunter and use waterproof detectors for that. But I'm also interested in treasure hunting on land and own several top of the line land machines. I overlooking the 705 because I felt it to be a step down. Well it's not! Actually if I had to pick just 1 land machine for all my hunting it would be the 705! It's that good and I just love being able to hunt by target sound/tones in the All Metal mode, with all tones active and zero discrimination. I let my brain decide to dig or not, because when you don't discriminate the 705 performs better! But for those who favor discrimination the 705 can do that too. Few detectors excite me and while a late-comer to this detector, the 705 has! There is no perfect 1 detector for all treasures. The 705 does many things good and good enough to find treasure! There is a slight learning curve on the functions of this detector, but really if you read the manual a couple of times and go out and detect/experiment with settings, you should learn this machine in a couple outings. The 705 becomes familiar quickly and is worth the short learning curve effort. I find when I like a detector, I find stuff/treasure and I like and highly recommend the 705!

Amazing mid level detector
I love this metal detector! It is far superior to my Garrett ace 300. It has many features that are fairly easy to learn if you take your time to understand the machine. It's a great detector for the price and will find targets that beginner level detectors would struggle with.
