Altering a 771 CPU for a 775 socket
My overall opinion is an excellent grade for this product. While it takes some patients (and a magnifier helps), to separate the sticker from its die cut form (as received), to the installation onto the CPU. Before any attempt was made I used double sided tape to hold the CPU steady on the table. I then washed down the back of the CPU with alcohol, and thoroughly washed my hands before application. Once applied, it stayed where it was suppose to be, with a fair amount of handling to boot. I chose to alter the CPU and not gouge out the socket. To do this I mounted a small diamond grit bit in my Dremel motor tool, which itself was mounted in the Dremel drill press stand. Using double sided tape and a scrap of wood as a fence. I gauged the distance required using an old 775 CPU, then I pressed the fence down to hold it in place. I put electrical tape on top of the CPU for scratch protection, and then slowly nibbled away the new clearance slots. Worked like a charm, without needing to alter the socket. Its ok, but the product should have included instruction. It also took over a week to recieve, yet it was sent in a one stamp envelope.

Bought to try in a motherboard upgrade to Xeon thing...
Did not work. I attached this adapter(sticker) to the CPU. Got the motherboard to boot a couple of times but was unreliable. Would stall at post most of the time. I don't know if it was the chip or this adapter or the motherboard. I think it was the motherboard because it did post a few times. All I can say is make sure you have all the info you need before you do one of these core2duo to xeon mods. It just works.
Did the trick, exactly like it's supposed to. Made it so a socket 771 e5450 Xeon CPU would work with my socket 775 motherboard. Note: I had to nip the plastic tabs out of the cpu socket in order for the Xeon to be able to fit.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Easy Install, Good Adhesive!

Works Flawlessly, Easy to install.
