Not as compelling as The Red Tent
The book is a very simple read. It is factual for sure; my grandparents also were immigrants and had pretty much the same experiences that every immigrant had in Boston. So if you are interested in the immigrant experience in Boston specifically you would be interested in this book. If you are not interested, don't bother. On the other hand The Red Tent was fascinating, i think, to just about everyone. A true keeper. Boston Girl
I found the period which the novel was written to be an exciting time of change for women. And seeing into a first generation American Jewish was even more interesting.
