Gritty and layered story with a sympathetic but not exploitive view of sex workers
I was so impressed with the depiction of the street life and character development in this series. There was no glamour or elevation in the portrayal of the lives of the sex workers. It is a time piece of New York in 1971-the actors and story and cinematography are excellent and transport you into the action. I had a hard time pacing myself so I wouldn't rush through the discs too soon!
