Great Workhorse
The Nord eliminates a lot of options that you think you might want, like being able to fine tune the depth of the tremolo, which seems like a bummer but actually they have designed the keyboard so you can quickly/instantly get things to sound good without going through menus and submenus. In the end you have, for instance three depths for tremolo but they all sound good, and one of them will work for you. The streamlining of features makes it great to use live; you can adjust pretty much anything in realtime (and at the same time). The PERFECT performance keyboard for tone-heads and vintage keys lovers.
The Nord Electro has filled the niche of the vintage emulation performance keyboard since 2001. I owned the original and it was my gig workhorse for 15 years. I finally upgraded to the latest gen and WOAH!!!! This is THE be-all-end-all for a live performance keyboard. The Organ is amazing and allows you to dial in the perfect amount of grit and captures the nuance of a old B3 with tone leakage and dirty key contacts. The Electric Pianos are stellar as well as all the sampled instruments and the ability to adjust tone on-the-fly is just perfect. the layering and crossfaded keyboard splits are just the icing on the cake and make it a real joy to play. Incredible unit.. .... the 3 engines, organ, piano, synth are incredible sounding. All multi timbral..they layer that is possible is endless....the draw bar organ and rotary speaker with overdrive, the voicing is spot on......the pianos are wonderful.....Cant compare it to anything I've ever used before. My bandmates love it.
