NotesAn '80s classic, a college-rock landmark the legendary 1983 full-length debut by R.E.M.! Stipe, Buck and the boys created a whole new sound with these remarkable songs: Radio Free Europe; Catapult; Talk About the Passion, and more.
A lot of things. First, this was a great value and everything is in great shape. The album is not their first. It is one of their best. This is where a movement started. All the anti glam rock, hair rock, pop and bubblegum starts here. Alt rock started with the jangle rock of REM and this is where it was noticed. By Rolling Stone of all people. Not my favorite now but in the day Rolling Stone was insightful. "Radio Free Europe" was named single of the year and it wasn't Michael Jackson. "Talk about the Passion" "Sitting Still" were to follow. The first really big stuff like "End of the World as we Know it" and Fall on me" were following on the next albums. College radio exploded and REM burst out with oddities such a the Cure, Husker Du and the Replacements were to follow. A solid album that leads credo to The IRS years being essentially the best albums from this band. There's about half a dozen. Buy them. No auto tune needed.
I have always Dabbled in the sounds of Alternative rock as far as taste goes.... but until recently I have really started opening my ears to band's such as R.E.M. , The Beatles and Husker Du! Mur Mur is more than I could have hoped for I have always enjoyed Monster by R.E.M. my favorite up until now I Love the tones of mur mur the mood of mur mur!! I am by far no pro at review's but I can tell you if you like R.E.M. or may not know what they sound like they are one of the best bands the world will ever know! I recommend Mur Mur it's great from start to finish..and on REPEAT.... IT'S real ROCK it's real ROLL it's really GOOD! I bought the original album on CD but will be buying the Deluxe ANNIVERSARY EDITION as well because Mur Mur is that GOOD! no favorite tracks because I love the album as a whole. And the cover is COOL it's also neat to see how young these guys were in the inner sleeve.
