A mesmerizing experience using just the power of sound and imagry.
The Qatsi trilogy is the informal name given to a series of non-narrative films produced by Godfrey Reggio and scored by Philip Glass:
Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance (1982)
Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation (1988)
Naqoyqatsi: Life as War (2002)
The titles of all three motion pictures are words from the Hopi language, in which the word qatsi translates to "life." The series was produced by the Institute For Regional Education, who also created the Fund For Change -- From Wikipedia.
These are not narrative films so they are very different from what most people are used to. You really need to go to IMDB and read up on them before purchasing so you can understand that they are films that as a friend explained, you just have to let "happen" to you. You have to open your mind and let the images and music flow over your senses and let it take you wherever your mind chooses to go. If you are open to it, they can be an inspirational experience. You might try them as our group did, with some THC. Bottom line, for a unique mind-bending journey, you won't find any films more exhilarating and thought-expanding than these three.
