Nice receiver but definately not worth the bucks nowadays?
As someone that has been into radio for many years, both as an owner of just about everything worth mentioning radio wise, and also repairing them, and modifying them, here's my opinion.
Having one of these things a decade or so ago and you would never have left the house, or turned it off (pre digital days). Happy Radio Days as I refer them as. Had one about 12 years ago and I was impressed (then).....but, read on...........
However, it should be noted that, as more and more radio signals are going digital, and with heavily encrypted comm's, you cannot decode, they are now becoming just nice to look at. Yes, there's still some interesting stuff on Shortwave, but even that's on the major decline, with a capital D. You might just be paying £300 plus (in some cases) for nothing more than a radio that will just receive your local airport, or a solitary local taxi firm, or courier, that is still using radio as we knew it. Lots of these companies now use other means of communication! Communications (as we knew it) is on the downhill spiral, so before you buy this (or any radio scanner) just ask yourself "is there anything left to actually listen to". My answer to that is sadly "NO"!
