Very soft and creamy
Unlike other colored pencils, these have a very creamy lay down with rich pigments. Closer to prismas than polychromos and very soft. If I could afford more Holbeins I would buy them in a heartbeat. All the colored pencils out there have their own qualities and uses are determined by the artist. I just love these for when I need that intense color with little effort - they feel good to use.

Farbstifte der Spitzenklasse
Ich habe mir die "Holbein Artists´s Colored Pencil - 50 colors pastel tones" als Ergänzung zu meinen "Faber - Castell Polychromos" zugelegt. Ähnliche Preisklasse, ähnliche Qualität. Die Verarbeitung der Stifte ist auf gleichem weltklasse Niveau wie die Polychromos. Feines Holz, perfekte und farbgeteue Lackierung mit Goldfolienaufdruck für die Kennung, zentrierte Mine und gerade Stifte. Das Design der Holbein Stifte ist sehr stark an das der Polychromos "angelehnt". Einzig in der Farbechtheit sind die Polychromos das Maß aller Dinge. Haben die Holbeins meistens 2 Sterne, aber auch oft 1 Stern und sehr selten 3 Sterne gibt es bei den Polys fast ausschließlich 3 Sterne! Die Holbeins liegen in einem Kunststoffbett mit vernünftiger Kartonverpackung. Eine Metallverpackung wie bei den Polys gefällt mir aber besser weil sie stabiler und feuchtigkeitsresistenter ist. Die Farbminen der Holbeins sind spitzenqualität! Völlig gleichmäßiger, satter Farbabstrich.Weich und cremig fühlt es sich an und ist für Flächen und Feinheiten bestens geeignet. Lassen sich leicht und gleichmäßig verblenden und sind wasserresistent. Nur für absolute Details sind sie aufgrund ihrer weichen Mine nicht wirklich geeignet. Dafür habe ich die Polys von Faber - Castell die sich nadelfein anspitzen lassen und auch so verwendet werden können. Wie ich finde, ergänzen sich die Holbeins und Polychromos wunderbar. Daher werde ich mir auch noch "Holbein 150 colored Pencil" bestellen. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

Angels kisses and unicorn wishes on paper.
These pencils are a delight to colour in with they are creamy yet not to soft and firm but not to firm just in between a poly and prisma I would say. The pigment is amazing and the colour selection to drool for. They go on lovely paper for colouring enthusiasts and blend nicely to. They come with a blunt nib so I just used it and rounded it by colouring in to get a point rather than wasting sharpening it. Enjoy them they are like angels kisses on paper filled with unicorns 🦄 wishes. Have attached a picture from Fairies in Wonderland by Denyse Klette coloured by the Holbein pencils ✏️

Worth the money!
At first glance you can see that the packaging is larger than the other colored pencil. You could also see that the pencil is a bit longer than prismacolor and polychromos. Very smooth and creamy when layed down to paper. Expensive but worth the money!

Fantastic product.
Colors are pastel but not pale. The pencil is creamy and glides on smoothly. It blends beautifully!

Viewing these make a person's mouth water! They look like you should be able to eat them.
Not available for sale in Canada. Lovely product with extraordinary colours. Very nice to use.

Beautiful pastels.
I bought these as an extra set as I have the 150 set but didn’t want to run out of the pastels. They are Beautiful and buttery with amazing colours. They also blend well and on any paper.

Beautiful artist grade colored pencils
Holbein Artist Pastel Colored Pencils are high quality colored pencils. The 50 count pastel colored set contains unique and beautiful pastel tones not found in other high quality sets. The cores are incredibly soft and creamy and the leads are durable. These pencils layer and blend with ease and work well with other pencils. Note that there is no white pencil in this set. The cores are standard sized cores and not as thick as other brands. The barrel lacquer does match the color of the lead. These pencils are an amazing addition to any other set and I do recommend them with a few precautions. The down side of these pencils is that they are quite expensive when compared to other name brand pencils and you can not buy these in open stock format. Do note that the box does indicate that these are not tested for chemicals such as lead, cadmium etc, and are not compliant with USA Standards of toxicity or safety. The box also indicates "Not for sale in USA or Canada". I suggest if using them to be sure you wash your hands after use and avoid long periods of exposure.
