Like all good compendiums, The Albums 1968-1972 is thorough to the point of exhaustion, and might be a skosh intimidating for the uninitiated, but for seasoned U.K. folk fans, or anybody looking to take a deep dive into one of the genre's most complicated, rewarding, and often underrated collectives, it's as rich and compelling as it is imposing.

Additional InformationCherry Red's lovingly assembled deluxe seven-disc box set featuring remastered versions of all the band's albums, is a treasure trove of Pentangle goodness.
Reviews"As the group moved forward together, their individual sounds found those pockets and crannies to sink in and meld together into a sound that feels as cozy and current as anything being produced today."
Wonderful music. I've always been a huge fan of the band , and have the original vinyl releases and most of the expanded cd re-issues from 15 years ago , so I had the bulk of this collection , but , the inclusion of hitherto unavailable elsewhere morsels was the principal reason for investing in this neatly boxed set , plus the informative booklet. There is not much unreleased material , but what there is , is most welcome indeed. The live material included at the end of Solomon's Seal , is fascinating , if not of professional standard (it sounds like a decent quality audience recording , but quite listenable).
The packaging is attractive , too. the cd's are house in their respective replica LP covers , with Sweet Child packaged as a fold open double album , and all housed in a neat , cd sized bookended styled box , with lid.
