Review of the movie THE ROBE
Frankly, this is the best movie I have ever seen in my life! The cast of characters are all outstanding in their roles. The music score and sound is outstanding by Alfred Newman who has won several Oscar awards for his music. The scenery and special effects are very beautiful and engaging. It was the first movie ever made in wide screen CinemaScope with a panoramic view. BUT TO SEE ALL THESE AFECTS YOU MUST PURCHASE SPECIFICALLY THE SPECIALLY PROCESSED DVD WHICH DISPLAYS BLUEISH CLOUDS AT THE TOP OF THE COVER AND WITH HILLS AND CROSSES AT THE BOTTOM. Wonderful acting and scenery. Wardrobe was fantastic. If you watch this flick, just pay attention to the wardrobe and sets.
This is a movie out of the long ago starring some great talent. I just had a yen to revisit some Jean Simmons roles and this is one I picked. Richard Burton was an incredible actor who was nominated for NINE Academy Awards fo best actor and never won one. Explain that ? This movie was made before computers, so when you see hundreds of people in a scene, there ARE hundreds of people in a scene. The sets were incredible !!! I find a lot pof oldies on eBay and I buy many of them. Costs less than the price of a crummy current movie.
