Works fine, but is a little skimpy
This lock works fine, but I'm not sure it is a great value. I bought the $130 version at a bike store, and that one feels almost as solid as a U-lock, but this one is of a much lighter gauge. In fact, for $100, I couldn't believe how insubstantial it is. I wondered if I could cut through the pieces with a good pair of pliers. But, I chose this lock because my kids are not in the habit of carrying keys, and this kind of ABUS lock seems like the most hack-proof combination lock out there. We have had some pretty heavy duty cable combination locks before, but apparently the weak point seems to be the plastic parts within the combination part of the lock- thieves can smash that part of the lock over the top tube of the bike or the bike rack, and that has happened to us before. It seems like that can't happen the way the combination dials are protected in that little steel cage- or perhaps it works well enough as a deterrent to send the thief onto the next bike. I'm not sure if I'll regret not paying the extra $30 for the heavy duty model- perhaps this one will do the trick. Quality lock, but will it stand up? Hope so.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
