Fantastic Router
This router is fantastic, I simply turned off the router function on my Vodafone router which then made it a modem only and then connected it with an Ethernet cable to the Netgear Nighthawk. I then connected the nighthawk via another Ethernet cable to my computer. I then turned my computer on, and the Netgear router wizard opened up and I simply followed the instructions. I’m not by any means a computer minded person but a child could connect this router. It is also very fast and has increased both my download and upload speeds, without increasing my Vodafone package payment price. If I change broadband supplier, I simply connect to their router and follow the Netgear connection wizard again. Netgear R7000 VPN Router - The Daddy!
Exceptional value for money the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk Router. These things are normally upwards of £300 and I bagged this bad boy for under £190 with my VPN pre-configured. I have to say that the range on the router is amazing. Definitely the daddy for routers. Bit on the large side compared with my SKY hub but advantages such as great speed, improved connectivity and superb value for money far outweigh any small niggles. Great Router
This router has been a great buy. I purchased it after looking into flashed routers with a VPN built in. This router scored very highly and I was quoted over £250 for one that had been pre-configured. I decided to give it a go myself after reading some good tutorials on the interest and I had it all up and running within a few hours. Now any device in my home that connects to the internet goes through the built in VPN on this router. It runs great and the control panel offers some great information and tweaks. Excellent performance, but difficult to set up
I would have given this product five stars, but for the problems I had setting it up. My old router was provided by KCOM and it worked from the off. But with this one, I had problems, first connecting with the fiblre-optic modem and then connecting to the internet. The first problem eventually went away after two or three atempts with the Nighthawk app, but without using the app, I could not make any headway. The second problem was with my ISP. In the end I had to telephone and, after a lot of security rigmarole, I eventually got a user name and password which worked. However, the Nighthawk then proceeded to update its software forever and I had to give up for the day. Fantastic, solid performing router - can't recommend it enough
Before installing this router I had patchy WiFi reception in the house and my sons complained at me for weeks. During lockdown, with two of us working from home, video calls also became a challenge. Since installing this router we have had no issues and after days of speed-tests from every room in the house and also outside down the garden, the signal strength is solid and consistent day in and day out. The benefit from buying this from Ebay was also great - half the cost of a new unit. The user interface to configure the router is also excellent and intuitive / easy to use. NETGEAR HEAVEN
This router saved so many issues around the home. We have kids with 3 xboxs and mobile phones on youtube hogging bandwidth all on tge go at the same time. Set virgin super hub router to modem mode. Put the nighthawk to work! Created a second seperate login for kids. Was able to restrict how much internet that login got. Worse than Virgin original router
