Great reel for catching whiting

560 slammer
The Z's were great, made in someplace called USA. I faintly remember that place. The 560 pretty dam good, the new stuff they're making in China - have to admit is good. Penn Slammer 560
I bought this for two reasons, 1) my Slammer 360 USA was lost to a broken reel seat and is now somewhere in the Indian River Lagoon, and 2) I 'needed' a dependable BTB reel to handle Jack, Drum, Cobia and Kings off the Texas Gulf Coast. This reel fits that bill! It is paired to a 7' ML Blair Wiggins Offshore Rod and loaded with 30# braid backed by 15#mono. I primarily use live bait but trolling works just as well. I also put this reel on an 8' Ugly Stik Surf Rod (Old Model) and sling DOA bait busters and large terroreyz off the Jetty, works well.
