Needs to be modified.
I purchased this to use with my 2004 Mercury 115 HP 4-stroke engine so I could read any error codes. It is the correct part. However, as it comes from Mercury, it will not work without a modification. This harness kit is packaged as two pieces. the first piece is the original "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" (MIL) that is used, all by itself, on this engine for model year 2001 and earlier. In 2002 the engine was changed and now includes a "Diagnostic Test Terminal" (DTT) . You need the second harness that is included to connect to the DTT. However, you now need to connect the single wire from this harness with the MIL harness. Unfortunately, all of the connectors are male connectors, so you can't connect them. You can do one of two things. First, and this is what I did, remove one of the male connectors from the MIL and replace it with a female connector. Then plug the only wire from the DTT harness to the MIL harness. It worked perfectly. The second thing you can do, if you don't wish to modify the existing harnesses, is to fabricate a jumper cable with two female connectors, one on each end. You can then use this to connect the MIL harness to the DTT harness.
