  • Excellent Rotary Tool

This is the second one I have purchased the first one I had for many years and put it to work on a lot of difficult products but it just kept going. So when that one finally bit the dust I went back to the same old faithful. My brother has had many more expensive dremels and they have not lasted or held up as well. The black&decker is a great value for such a great product.

  • M8× 1.25 or 9/32 40 or 5/16 24 re-threaded

Great price and product. Well made. Better than expected . Better than a dremel for the price. Got two for 1 Dremel price. Has 3 speed settings and all in between speeds available on dial SO IT'S VARIABLE!!! FLEXSHAFT IS A MUST FOR LAPIDARY but must use a key on shaft to lock it unlike drill switch that is convenient. RT5100 RTX is for this tool keeps the warranty and works great with a fixed (marker like) handpiece. Fits 3mm accessories out the box. Order a 3/32" collet for 2.35mm accessories and anything else use dremel 4486 chuck for 0.3-3.4mm or gyros micro chuck for micro bits (drill, polishing pins). Get a good collet set the cheap 10 piece brass sets collets break (1+ dollar). Get the Dewalt rtx collets or the OEM rtx ones; they are completely solid and worth the extra few dollars. You need accessories so shop around i have 300+ mandrels for 35-50 dollars with diamond coating for rocks mostly 3mm some 2.35mm (you'll need both 1/8" & 3/32" collets or 4486). Be very careful to get right chuck sizes and mandrels and "HERE WE GO". 1-12,000rpm,2-24,000rpm,3-30,000rpm are settings-3 speed. If you want the better (industrial) version get the RTX2A which comes in a hard case and much more. It has more torque in the motor and is 2× as powerful. It also has 6 speeds starting at 8,000 rpm not 12,000 (More like a FOREDOM or dremel).

  • Give a try .... you will like it!!

Excellent quality, great design and useful features make this rotary tool the best value in the market. The lockout lever allows tool changes without the fear of accidentally damaging the tool by inadvertently hitting a lock button or key while running that strip strip the shaft. The collar is the same diameter and thread of the Dremel giving this tool maximum compatibility with all Dremel accessories and attachments. The 2 amp motor is stronger than any Dremel made. The three speed is a little misleading ... the RTX is actually continuously variable with with three specific detents at 12, 24 and 30,000 rpms to insure certain tool compliance. Given this tool cost a quarter of a comparable Dremel without giving up any major quality differences, makes this tool a hard purchase to ignore. Give a try .... you will like it!!

  • Best Buy

2.0 amps. Superior to most other brands. 3 speed.. Had a cheap Harbor Freight rotary, useless. Dremel are overpriced, and not as powerful..

  • Black and Decker Rotary Tool

Good Value, good chuck system and speed controls. I purchased several of these for my work lab, and this brand is far better in quality over the Dremel tool.

  • Great tool fits Dremel 4486 chuck

Steady spindle great with all dremel accessories in 9/32" 40tpi. Get 3/32" collet and RT-5100 RTX FLEXSHAFT and you now have a powerful and inexpensive Dremel type rotary tool. You may want another flexshaft if you want interchangeable handles. Works with 4486 Dremel Chuck or adapt to 5/16" or to 3/8" 24tpi for add-ons (chucks/flexshaft). This is a great beginner tool that will allow practice til your ready to step up to a foredom. Also intermediate to industrial use ready but a backup is handy for heavy-duty applications. It has power to it so it's superior motor to Dremel takes on any task. It doesn't bog just watch over-tightening with wrench because of oxidation from cutting with lubricant (water)causing a solid seal. I have 2 learned hard-way and have one relegated to a hand drill. It's seized and locking mechanism clicks when try to loosen so i gave up before it was a complete loss. Flexshaft is best bet to prevent this.

  • A good tool for small projects but can be abused

This is my second unit. The first I had for 7 years I believe. I damaged it by trying to use saw blades that aren't specifically designed for the unit. It taxes the unit and causes it's components to overheat and fail so if that is your intent, find a different type of tool. It states 3 speed but is actually a variable speed unit.

  • Would I buy them again? For the money? Probably. I got a good deal on the price.

I have used two of them for many months now. MANY MANY HOURS! I was super impressed to begin with BUT then things went south. The main problem and at the same time with both...THE SLOPPY RUNOUT of the chucks. What happens is the plastic around the bearing is WAY too under engineered. I am a retired tool&die maker and it took my knowledge to fix these things. Desk Jockey Engineers put special screws in the first housing holes to keep you from taking the housing apart. Then Torx screw in the back screws. I made a special tool to remove the anti-tamper screws and had the right torx also. I had to build up the inside walls around the bearing with epoxy and install new bearings on both units. They are still good deal for the money. I had my Dremel for many years. I don't know..it is a toss up. I like these but the chuck runout is a killer.

  • nice tool modest price

Looked for an alternative too dremel and found this. Works quite well and is as powerful if not more than dremel. Only thing it does not have is continuous variable speed. It does have a few speeds so that meets my needs. Very good value and well built. Easy to change bits as well.

  • best motor

This unit has a 2 amp motor. That's twice as big as almost all competitors. So I can buy 3 of these before I get close to the cost of a top line Dremul. You do the math. Had the exact same model and smoked it. Wanted to upgrade if possible. Found this is the most powerful hand held unit you can get and it's not insanely expensive. Happy to buy another one.
