A high value HP frequency counter capable of measuring signals as small as 10 mv RMS.
The frequency measurements go up into the 1Ghz range. This counter is the 'final answer' for accurate measurements in any RF maintenance facility.
This unit has a temperature controlled master crystal oscillator that makes this counter ready to count accurately from a cold start. The bright red read-out numbers are easy to read from across the room. Many additional functions are available, but I don't need them.
The down side for this unit is the blower fan is quite loud and the 18 inch wide cabinet is not compatible with small workbenches. If you have the space, this unit will satisfy you.
The HP 5335a Universal Counter I purchased came with Option 10 (High Stability Time Base) and Option 30 (1.3GHz Input C). It has serial # prefix of 3145 (built in 1991). With the High Stability Time Base and a Nortel NTBW50AA GPSDO, I managed to read 10.000000002 after adjustments to the HP 10811-60111 oscillator....not bad. This unit has a U.S. Navy MetCal Calibration tag and it appears very well cared for.
Thanks,
Dave
