Dracula Masterpiece
Dracula, The Hammer film from 1958, is a true masterpiece of terror, and suspense, with superb acting from all the cast, and brilliant direction from Terence Fisher, this Film is a true classic from Hammer. The Film looks incredible, and the Extras on the disc are really impressive. The most Interesting is Resurrecting Dracula, about the restoration of the film, which is really fascinating, and such hard work went into the restoring of this classic piece of film making. Dracula is probably in my top ten films of all time, I found the film to be well paced, and the story is well presented. The Censorship problems that Hammer encountered were frustrating, as Terence Fisher was not happy with the demands of the censor, so it is a thrill to see this all time classic in all it's glory, uncut for the first time. Lionsgate have done a great job in the presentation of the film for Blu Ray, and DVD and this particular Film is the best version, if you want the extra material to supplement the film. Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing are on top form, as well as the supporting cast of Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Valerie Gaunt. Moody, Atmospheric, and wonderfully shot to achieve that dark tone, and along with James Bernard iconic score, you have a film that is just never going to be improved, and the fact it saved Universal Studios from bankruptcy is not surprising at all. The late Sir Christopher Lee (1922-2015)Who passed away at 93 7 years ago will be remembered as Bram Stoker's fanged Character Dracula whom he starred in along with Sir Peter Cushing as lorimar Van Helsing his nemisis ,Both were great in other Dracula movies to Frankenstein to I Monster to The Seven Vampires to Christopher lees last outing as Dracula in 1973 with Peter Cushing and Joanna Lumley as his niece ,The Satanic Rites of Dracula ,Got to like this 1958 Outing starring Christopher Lee 64 years on , Especially the fact there are Extras also about The Bram Stoker Character ,Well worth the money and highly Recommend it . Hammer horror at its best
If you are searching for one Drucula film to watch on blueray this is it. Great storyline by Jimmy Sangster also brilliantly directed by Terence Fisher. The cast all put in their best performances especially Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing.
