  • Yuneec Skyview is a good value alternative to DJI Goggles for Phantom 3/4 Advanced/Pro

I must start by saying that I do own a DJI Goggle set for my Mavic Pro. I ordered the Yuneec Skyview goggles to use with my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced w/HDMI option as a value alternative. When you use the DJI Goggles with a Phantom 3 Advanced/Pro or a Phantom 4 Advanced/Pro, you loose all of the DJI Goggles advanced features, such as head tracking. You also loose the 1080p display as the DJI Goggles default to a 720p resolution in the HDMI mode. Since the DJI Goggles are very expensive, I decided to see if I could find something that was suitable for my Phantom 3 Advanced at a value price. The current Price, the Yuneec Skyview falls nicely into the value category and has an 720p HDMI input. In use, you simply attach the HDMI cable (the proper size for a DJI quad is not included with the Skyview) to your Phantom 3's optional HDMI output and turn it on. You will then see the same interface you see on you phone or tablet. This includes data such as Battery Condition, Height, Distance, Direction, Signal Strength, etc. The Display is bright and compared to the DJI Goggles, the Yuneec Skyview goggles are light in weight. In my opinion, these Yuneec Skyview goggles make an excellent value alternative to the more expensive (and more capable for the Mavic) DJI goggles. The Yuneec Skyview will work well with the Phantom 3 Advanced/Pro with HDMI option and the Phantom 4 Advanced/Pro with HDMI option. The Yuneec Skyview Goggles will not work with the Phantom (original), Phantom FC40, the Phantom 2, the Phantom 3 Standard or the Spark directly. They will possibly work with the aforementioned DJI Quads if the tablet or phone you use with those quads has an HDMI output port. I have not tested those these quads in that configuration, but really, any quad that you can get an HDMI output in some way from should work, whether you are getting that HDMI signal from the transmitter or the phone/tablet. I have tested the this on my personal Phantom 3 Advanced with HDMI option and it works great. Since I have not personally tried it on the other Quads, do so at your own risk. If you have a Phantom 3 Advanced/Pro or Phantom 4 Advanced/Pro without the HDMI option, you will need to install the option yourself. Do an internet search for DJI HDMI Module. There are video's on Youtube showing how to do the install. As a final note, remember that under the current FAA rules governing hobby drones, you need to register it, label it with ID# and when in FPV mode, you must have a spotter. Register and review all the rules at the FAA drone site.

  • Big Bang for the buck

the Yuneec SkyView FPV goggles are a huge surprise to me. I've been looking for FPV goggles for a while now and actually ordered the DJI goggles, as I own DJI drones, however those as great as the screen is, fall short for me as they were heavy and terribly uncomfortable, I kept having to battle with them so they wouln't fall off my head while I was trying to fly, NOT!! Those were promptly returned. I kept looking for options, but the prives for the top ones were just out of my range, suddenly I came across the Yuneec offering not without trepitation I ordered them, as my first drone was a Yuneec and I was very happy with it's quality. Well the second I tried them out I was happy, they cost almost a quarter of the DJIs and were instantly comfortable, easy on my eyes, though you stilled reading glasses I mean I need them, the screen is bright and sharop enough to be even more useful as a focus aid for filming and photography. Are they perfect? NO. the positioning of the screen is a little off and telemetry data falls below my line of sight, but I think I can solve that issue win a little extra padding to change the angle of view. They fit my head without hassle and come with cushioning for the nose. I am pleased. I don't know if they are for everyone, but for me they worked better than any others I tried.

  • An Ok FPV, but with a few shortcomings....

This FPV is a good example why Yuneec continues to lose ground in the in the drone market. The headset itself is not bad. It appears to be well built, and with care, should be able to last. But the features are limited. Although, picture quality is very good, it is NOT a self-operating unit, unlike other FPV’s that have built in receivers. The unit doesn’t have focus or diopter adjustment, and does not have head-tracking capabilities. So it is technically an overpriced smartphone VR you can buy for $20; and definitely not worth the original MSRP of $249. Yet, still an OK FPV as long as you don’t mind the shortcomings.

  • Its needing upgrading.

Pro: Nice definition, well built, fast recognized by the controller or computer. Con:The 2 lb viewer is resting on your nose cap with hard plastic. Becomes unbearable after a few minutes. Besides, for some reason my nose is pushing it too high, and no matter what I do so I can not see the bottom line of the screen. There is no adjustment for lenses and although they say you can wear your reading glasses, you can not or risk of breaking them. For this price I would expect a bit more from Yuneec.

  • Not bad

Great picture and well made nice but a couple of things you need to know 1. The it will hit your nose and after a while get Kind of annoying. 2. Takes your eyes some getting used to there are no eye adjustments For different people After your done using it your eyes tend to bother you a bit.

  • Perfect Goggles for any Drone

An excellent buy. I wanted Goggles for my dji Quad but was not going to spend several hundreds to buy one. Since I had an nvidia shield tablet with a built-in hdmi port I gave it a try. Flying my quad has never been easier. Goggles work for any quad if your mobile device has an hdmi port. Micro usb cable is required to charge the goggles. Micro hdmi cable is required to deliver the video feed to the Goggles And that's it. Clear view and not too heavy. It comes with 2 soft pads. They are required if you plan to watch a movie with the goggles. Flying a quad for 15 minutes I've had no need for the comfort pads. I will probably buy a 2nd one as a spare.

  • Great product and fun to use.

Simple setup with ST16. This is my first experience with FPV goggles so there is a learning curve for flying. Very good optical quality. I thought the HDMI cable might be an issue while flying but it isn't. Using the ST16 neck strap helps a lot.

  • Excellent Quality for those with good eyesight

The video quality is perfect. If your eyes are good this is perfect for you. For those like me who have trouble focusing close you'll experience some eye strain.

  • worth the price paid

Very solidly built although the nose cup -- even with the rubber "bumpers" -- is hard and with the weight of the googles, a little difficult to get used to.
