As Good As It Gets
Faithful to the original British Commando Dagger style, this product from Sheffield is well made, fitted and finished. This one has a brightly polished blade instead of the usual blued steel, adding a welcome touch of bling to an already impressive design. The edges aren't exactly hair-shaving sharp --- they don't have to be. This piece was made for thrusting and will do so with substantial authority. The metal-tipped sheath is nothing special, but I figure if it's good enough for Her Majesty's Commandos, it's good enough for me.
Hardcore survivalists will tell you that a bright, silvery blade finish is tactical disadvantage --- you know, giving away your position and all. Okay, point taken. Maybe it's not the best choice for parachuting behind enemy lines at Normandy or mounting a counter attack when the zombies rise up --- but until then, this is a fine and functional addition to any military collection.
And if, heaven forbid, you actually have to use this knife in a manner beyond the benign realms of conversation or display, I would NOT want to be on the business end of its point. It is one of the fiercest I have ever seen on a knife. Well done indeed, and well worth the money!
