Costumer and doll collector resource
I found this book to be an exceptional resource of patterns and techniques to construct 18th century clothing. Directions are easy to follow. Collectors of this period doll don't have many examples of the sewing of this type of clothing and this book definitely meets those needs. Highly recommended.

Excellent resource for serious students of 18th century costume
This book is worth every penny for its well-presented, first-hand, and in-depth research of selected late 18th century garments and accessories. It offers far more than the title would suggest, providing detailed, scholarly information and background on each and every piece pictured. A real treasure-trove for the serious-minded student of late 18th century fashion history, leaving one wishing for more, and an extremely useful adjunct resource in particular to Nancy Bradfield's "Costume in Detail".

Excellent reference.
I love the descriptions of construction details. It is this kind of insight that you don’t get by only studying photos of extant originals.
