A high quality network player & Dac
The CNX, manufactured by Cambridge Audio, is a high quality network digital audio player and Dac (Digital to Analogue Converter) in a single package. It plays virtually every sort of audio format you can throw at it including high resolution formats and includes all the popular formats such as MP3, PCM, Flac, Alac, AAC, AAC+ and WMA and has Internet radio too with access to a huge collection of stations throughout the globe. Other streaming services such as Spotify, Pandora and Tidal can also be accessed on the device. Wifi via a dongle and Ethernet network connections are on the back panel along with USB ports for connection to PC's and storage devices, digital inputs (Optical and RCA) for the Dac, digital outputs (Optical & RCA) for connection to an external amplifier with decoding capability (these outputs bypass the CXN internal dac) and balanced XLR and RCA analogue stereo outputs. A high quality front panel mounted display is used for navigation through the menus, displays status information and track details including artwork from connected PCs or Nas drives with appropriate UPnP Server software installed. Track information is provided by the server software as is sorting such as by track, by artist etc, not by the player. A remote control is included as you would expect but for navigation though music collections and in general use it is much easier to use the free App that Cambridge provide for both Apple and Android devices. The app is simple to use (some would say too simple) but does the job intended with the minimum of fuss.
