Nice literary and history references.
I like the small portions of instruction followed by exercises. There are enough problems here that you could choose to have the student do every other problem unless he needs more practice. The "In Summary" parts are also helpful. In the back of the book you will find chapter reviews. If you see that more practice is needed at that time, it is easy to see which part of the book to work on.
