THIS UFO NEEDS TO BE DISCOVERED BY YOU NOW
In sports there are players who are deemed to be underrated because their notoriety is out-of-sync with their accomplishments. This fantastic UFO compilation CD certainly fits the profile. It is largely unheralded, sought after or reviewed. Upon closer aural inspection though it really packs a wallop. First off, it is on the Repertoire label and that is always a good thing. You can always count on handsome packaging and stellar sound with Repertoire and at 150+ minutes this twofer doesn't skimp on the time. Then you have the songs--40 of 'em covering the career of UFO from their inception in 1970 on up to 1986. There are 11 proto-metal cuts with Mick Bolton, a fine selection of tunes from the glory years with Michael Schenker and some 80s style AOR toe tappers. The real gem here is On With The Action which is an outtake from the phenomenal Strangers In the Night live extravaganza. To top it all off, lead singer Phil Mogg gives a track-by-track commentary. So there you have it music lovers. Somewhere flying around on a lonely ebay auction, maybe mine, is this brilliant set of UFO classics waiting to be discovered by you now!!!
