These are both connected to the cable screen. This has the effect of enclosing all of the guitar’s electronics in a conductive box which is connected to ground. Any noise that would previously have been picked up and amplified along with the guitar signal is now mostly shunted to ground, giving a much cleaner signal.

Silence Is Copper-Coloured
I have a Burns Cobra (the Strat-shaped one with three single-coil p/ups) which was picking up quite a lot of hum and noise and as I primarily do recordings rather than playing live, I thought I'd try a screening kit. What a difference! I hoped it might help, but it worked brilliantly. Everything is there in the kit, just take a deep breath and carefully dismantle your beloved guitar and get to work. Unusually for me, I followed the instructions precisely and made sure the paint coverage was 100%. I backed the scratchplate with the copper foil (quite tricky to get it neat and be careful, the edges are sharp), put the whole thing back together and...I was amazed - a very quiet guitar. I immediately ordered another kit for my Strat. Highly recommended.

Noise is gone! :)
I bought a cheap Straticaster style guitar a month ago. I think it sounds fantastic, but it was really noisy. The pickups picked up every magnetic interferenc in the studio. Then I disassembled it and I saw the poor finish inside. I bought this kit, applied it as per the instructions (difficulty: 2 / 5 if you are handy), and now I can stand 1,5 meter away and with my back to the speakers, and it is almost dead silent. Awesome kit! Highly recommend it, well worth the price!

Great for strats to keep out static
Works really well. Best mask your guitar up as it can be messy but I put one coat on and let that dry for 5 or 6 hours then out another coat. The next day add the copper tape and your good to go. I have done 3 strats and it worked every time.

Sound of Silience
Terrific product silenced the hum in a Les Paul studio with pcb board. Use as per instructions and don’t be tempted to put on tons of paint.... I’d easily recommend and would buy for any future guitar with ground issues

It works!
This is a great kit and has died my very noisy guitar (with 2 P90s) 100%. Now totally silent. Generous amounts of all the things you need and very well written instructions

Does the job well
A well-presented quality kit, though didn't discover the copper foil instructions in the envelope before I'd bodged it a bit. But all worked out fine, thanks.

Does what it should do
Exactly as described. Unshielded to shielded is a huge dimmer noise improvement.
